ONE Friday Fights Fighter Disqualified and Potentially Banned from Boxing After Illegal Head Kick KO
Idris Abdurashidov, a 21-year-old Russian MMA fighter who recently competed under ONE Friday Fights, made his professional boxing debut in a controversial match. During the fight, Idris, frustrated by the way the bout was unfolding, made a serious mistake that could lead to a lifetime ban from professional boxing and jeopardize his career.
Abdurashidov, an undefeated MMA fighter with a 4-0 record, has fought in multiple organizations, with ONE Friday Fights being his most notable appearance. In this bout, he faced Bagher Faraji, an undefeated professional boxer in Phuket, Thailand. As the fight progressed, Idris struggled to keep up and, in a moment of frustration, threw an illegal head kick that knocked out his opponent.
As a result, Faraji won by disqualification, and Idris later showed no remorse, stating:
"So, I made my debut in professional boxing," Abdurashidov wrote (translated from Russian). "And a lifelong disqualification—I threw that kick like a machine gun!"
At this time, the exact punishment for Abdurashidov's unsportsmanlike conduct is unclear, but more details are expected to follow.
